Anglers Journal and Grand Slam Lodge Mexico have partnered up to offer one lucky angler the trip of a lifetime — a four-night, three-day fishing adventure to one of the world’s best inshore fisheries, Ascension Bay. Valued at nearly $2,700, this dream trip can be yours.
As the editors began working on the 10-year anniversary issue of Anglers Journal, the team wanted to create a program to give back to our readers. The idea of a trip was fed out and the crew at Grand Slam Lodge Mexico was happy to host us. Anglers Journal editor Charlie Levine will join the lucky winner and an article about the trip will appear in an upcoming issue of the magazine. And should the winner want to bring a friend or spouse, that can be arranged at a discounted price.
Surrounded by mangroves, Ascension Bay, located on the east side of the Yucatan Peninsula, is home to abundant numbers of the most sought-after inshore game fish. On any given day, anglers can expect to cast flies to hungry bonefish on the flats, super-sized snook in the mangroves, permit traveling in singles or large groups and tarpon up to 150 pounds. It’s not uncommon to catch all four species of game fish in a single day, hence the name, Grand Slam Lodge.

After a long day on the water, the crew will enjoy a cocktail on the deck outside the lodge bar as we rehash the day’s events. The lodge chef will prepare a gourmet meal and guests will retire to their private villas.

“Ascension Bay is one of the premiere locations to target an inshore grand slam,” says Anglers Journal editor-in-chief Charlie Levine. “The winner of this trip will talk about this adventure for the rest of their life. It will be a blast to share in the experience as we celebrate the magazine’s 10-year anniversary.”
