The new Daiwa Prorex X LT is designed for Northern anglers who fish in water colder than 50 degrees. With its lower gear ratio, the reel is optimized for cold-water fishing, minimizing resistance and ensuring consistent performance.
“We went with lower gear ratios,” said Daiwa field marketing manager Chris Martin. “When it’s cold, that grease thickens. With lower gear ratios, it takes less effort to rotate the handle. Plus, the lower gear ratio better accommodates cold-weather fishing techniques.”
The Prorex X LT is available in four sizes, from 2000 to 4000, for pursuing a variety of fish, from panfish, perch and pike to walleye and trout. The 2000 size reel has a 5.2-to-1 gear ratio; the 2500 and 3000 models are 5.3-to-1; and the 4000 is 5.2-to-1.

Retail pricing starts at $69.99.
“The reel boasts a significant number of Daiwa technologies in an incredibly affordable package,” Martin said.
Proex X LT Features:
LT frame
The minimalist LT (light tough) engineering concept focuses on developing smaller reel frames that are lighter weight yet rigid and durable. These compact frames also make the reels easier to handle and use.
AIR Rotor
The design reduces weight, provides even rotary balance and stress distribution, and reduces vibration, while maintaining strength, to deliver more precisely balanced performance.
Air Bail
The Air Bail design features a hollow, tubular stainless steel bail that delivers maximum rigidity and strength with minimum weight. Smooth, protrusion-free construction allows the line to easily flow to the roller for trouble-free control.
Long Cast ABS
The LC-ABS two-stage spool features an upper wall angle that reduces line friction, allowing for tighter line exit and longer, smoother casts with fewer wind knots while accommodating the maximum amount of line.
DigiGear
A7075 aircraft-grade aluminum is forged into large, digitally designed and machine-cut gears with larger tooth patterns that mesh between a tough drive gear and pinion gears for optimized speed, torque, power transfer, smoothness and durability. This precision gear alignment reduces vibration and resistance, providing a smooth retrieve that helps anglers feel subtle lure movements and bites.
ATD Type-L
The ATD (advanced tournament drag) Type-L drag system works in tandem with the pull of a fish. The system improves the initial response of the drag, especially when using lighter lines, to reduce the load and enable a quicker catch and minimize stress on the fish, as well as handling sudden bursts of speed or steady pressure during extended battles.
