Okuma Fishing recently introduced the Rockaway Si spinning reel for saltwater anglers. Designed for surf and inshore fishing under the Rockaway rod series umbrella, the Rockaway SI combines clean aesthetics with saltwater-tough features, delivering the strength, power and performance anglers need.
The reel is made with Okuma’s C-40X carbon body and side plate, making it lightweight and durable. The reel houses oversized high-density gearing (HDG+), Flite Drive and a gear stabilizing system to ensure smooth operation and solid cranking power, especially when fighting big fish in big water.
The Rockaway Si features 5HPB + 1RB stainless steel bearings, multidisc carbonite drag washers for heat-resistant drag pressure, and Okuma’s Cyclonic Flow Rotor for improved airflow and faster drying after each use. A sealed, Hydro Block body and the elimination of an on/off anti-reverse switch further protects internal components from water intrusion, making this one of the most durable spinning reels in Okuma’s saltwater lineup.
For casting performance, the Rockaway Si It has a machine-cut brass pinion gear for refined smoothness and a machined anodized aluminum spool paired with high-speed gear ratios for rapid line retrieval — ideal for covering distance and reacting quickly during long casts.

“The Rockaway Si was made for anglers who face ruthless salt and pounding surf,” said product development manager John Bretza. “We combined carbon construction with strategic sealing and precision gearing to give coastal anglers the strength, speed and reliability they need when fishing in challenging environments.”
