Penn Fishing partnered with Malosi Studios to produce The Endless Pursuit, a film celebrating brothers Jon and Niko Va’afusuaga — artists and anglers whose grit, talent, determination and relentless effort have defined their pursuit of land-based giant trevally fishing in Australia.
Directed by Tristan Houghton, the film brings viewers face-to-face with the challenge of chasing GTs from unforgiving coastlines while also spotlighting the artistry and craftsmanship behind the Va’afusuaga brothers hand-built Malosi lures.

The collaboration pairs Penn’s strength in saltwater tackle with the brothers’ creative vision. From pounding surf and slippery rock ledges to the workshop where each lure is carved and painted by hand, The Endless Pursuit highlights the resilience required to succeed in both fishing and art. It’s a story of enduring determination and the talent it takes to turn grit into greatness.
To mark the release, Penn is offering a limited-edition T-shirt collection featuring hand-drawn Malosi designs. Three designs highlight iconic saltwater species — giant trevally, yellowfin tuna and mahi-mahi — and are available in sizes small through 3XL. Priced at $34.99, the T-shirts reflect the same authenticity and creativity poured into Malosi lures.
“Penn is proud to collaborate with the brothers on this film and apparel release,” said Theis Frederik Gronemann, vice president of social media at Pure Fishing. “Their dedication to craftsmanship and artistry embodies the values we uphold at Penn, and we are honored to feature their work in our new office in Charleston, South Carolina, as an everyday source of inspiration for our team.”

Jon and Niko Va’afusuaga founded Malosi Studio in Queensland, Australia, in 2020. What began as a small operation in a spare bedroom handcrafting timber lures and creating high-quality fish art has grown into a globally recognized name in topwater fishing, defined by craftsmanship, innovative product design and authentic storytelling.
“We are incredibly grateful to Penn for shining a big light on our little studio,” said Jon Va’afusuaga. “We deeply appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Pure Fishing and Penn on this film. … We’re also really excited that Niko’s incredible artwork will be available for everyone to enjoy through this exclusive limited-edition T-shirt release.”
