Daiwa’s new D-Shock II spinning rod and reel combos are designed for newcomers, youth anglers and others looking for reliable gear at an affordable price point.

The D-Shock II series includes five configurations for freshwater and light, inshore saltwater applications. They come prespooled with Daiwa J-Braid X4, which has minimal stretch, high sensitivity and excellent visibility for line tracking — features that help newcomers improve their success.

“At Daiwa, we all have a passion for fishing and want to share that passion with others who want to discover it,” said field marketing manager Chris Martin. “In putting together the D-Shock II combos, we make it even easier with the right rod and an already J-Braid spooled-up reel to tie on a bobber and a nightcrawler or an artificial lure, then hope for that elusive tug.”

The two-piece rods are built on fiberglass blanks, providing durability and moderate action well-suited for working small lures and baits. Cork handles offer comfort for longer sessions and a familiar feel for seasoned anglers. The rods are available in several lengths and power ratings:

• 6-foot, 2-inch ultralight and medium-light
• 6-foot, 6-inch medium
• 7-foot medium and medium-heavy

Retail pricing for the D-shock II spinning combo starts at just $39.99. They will be available at tackle shops and sporting goods retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada.
