Lowrance announced the release of software update 25.2, which includes innovative trolling motor features, enhancements to ActiveTarget 2 and expanded third-party integrations.

“This software release reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering smarter, more intuitive tools that help anglers fish more effectively and efficiently,” said Jeremiah Clark, vice president and general manager, fishing systems, at Navico Group, which includes Lowrance. “From our new advanced trolling motor controls to sharper sonar imaging and seamless third-party integration, every feature is purposefully designed to give anglers more confidence, control and improve their time on the water.”

The latest update introduces a suite of new features for trolling motors designed to enhance precision and simplify navigation — for example “Depth Routing” allows users to automatically chart a course that keeps the boat within a specified depth range. By setting minimum and maximum depths on an HDS Pro unit, anglers can let the new Ghost X, Ghost or Recon trolling motors handle the rest. This ensures the boat stays in the strike zone so anglers can stay focused on fishing.

Another feature is “Anchor at a Distance,” which enables the motor to anchor the boat at a preset distance from a waypoint instead of directly over it, allowing anglers to cast to their target without needing to reposition the boat. Once a spot is pinpointed, the motor maintains the position automatically — ideal for maintaining the perfect casting distance without constant adjustments.

Also new is “Anchor Orbit,” which lets anglers lock on to a target and orbit around it at a chosen distance and speed. Whether moving clockwise or counterclockwise, the motor maintains a consistent path, making it easier to cover water efficiently and stay on fish with minimal hassle. Anchor at a Distance and Anchor Orbit are available on the HDS Pro, with the new Ghost X, Ghost or Recon trolling motors.

The software update also brings enhancements to ActiveTarget 2, delivering sharper, more detailed underwater views to help anglers better find and catch fish. Improvements in image resolution make it easier to distinguish fish-holding structures, such as brush piles and grass lines, offering greater clarity and definition.

The update also introduces an optimized split-screen presentation that adapts to the display, ensuring maximum visibility across all viewing modes (only available with the HDS Pro and Elite FS 7- and 9-inch units). An enhanced version of the “Depth Offset” feature allows anglers to fine-tune the system based on the installation height of the ActiveTarget transducer below the waterline. Anglers set the offset distance, and the water column between the transducer and the surface is viewable in Forward mode — allowing for visibility up to the water surface, making it easier to track lures as they drop in — perfect for seeing the bait all the way through the water column, from splash to hookset.

Also, a new “Reverse Range” feature has been introduced to maximize on-screen visibility, along with an expanded selection of color palettes designed to enhance the visibility of both fish and bait targets. These options allow anglers to fine-tune the display for optimal viewing in varying conditions.

Lastly, the software release expands third-party integration capabilities, including new compatibility with Power-Pole shallow-water anchors via the C-Monster Gateway (NMEA 2000) or Bluetooth, directly from Lowrance HDS Pro and Elite FS displays (will require an upcoming software update from Power-Pole). It also supports the Power-Pole One Pump System and Charge battery management integration, featuring a new priority slider that lets anglers choose which battery bank receives power. The update also adds on-screen control compatibility with Move trolling motors.

Integration with Yak Power products is also now supported. Yak Power is a simple digital-switching solution for kayaks and small boats, allowing anglers to control lights and other electronics from a keypad. With Lowrance integration, the HDS Pro and Elite FS displays now serve as the keypad, giving anglers full control of their on-board systems directly from their display.
